Dhallbari Roti

1 cup dhall ( red lentil or yellow dhall) soaked for 10 minutes
1/2 diced onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic paste (2 cloves)
1 chilli finely diced
1 teaspoon curry powder or 1/4 teaspoon tumeric
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cumin seed
3 table spoon oil
1 cup water
For Roti
3 cups plain flour
1 1/2 cup warm water
1 tablespoon oil
1/4 cup ghee or butter
Method
Step 1
In a pot heat oil
Step 2
Add cumin seed and onion and fry to soft texture
Step 3
Add garlic and chilli and stir
Step 4
Add curry powder or turmeric stir and add washed dhall
Step 5
Add salt

Now if you are using red lentil just add 1/4 cup water and cook , press with fingers , it should be soft and easily mashed . If it’s still hard add 1 tablespoon water and cook further.

Once cook take off the heat .

If you are using yellow dhall. This will take time to cook. So add 1 cup water and cook and adjust if still hard .

Once your dhall is cooked You can mash it

Roll small ball of roti and place 1 tablespoon of cook dhall

Close the ball and roll into round roti shape

Cook on hot plate flipping and spreading ghee or butter few times until it’s well cooked both sides.

Roti In a basin add flour and rub gently

Now add little water a time to combine in soft dough

Knead dough for 2 - 3 minutes with aid of oil

Rest for 10 minutes

Pinch in small balls and roll 2cm

Fill a tablespoon cooked dhall

Close the by pressing on top and folding in

Roll the dhallbari roti in round shape gently

Cook on hot plate

Place roti on hot plate for 1 minute

Turn over spread ghee

Turn over again spread ghee

Make 2 -3 flips each side to cook roti nice golden brown .
